Our Second Day with Jessica (July 3rd)

We picked Jessica up on Thursday morning and headed to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. We had a great feast!! MMMM! Pancakes and Bacon!!! (Some misguided people had EGGS!!) We swung back by Jessica's house after breakfast and decided to take her brother Jake with us on the rest of our outing!! (He looked so lonely there by himself!!) :) After spending about 1 1/2 trying to figure out what to do....and ruling out the IMAX downtown....We headed back to the Outlet Malls in San Marcos. We had fun looking at all kinds of things......but our eyes especially bugged out at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.........Have you ever seen their candied apples!!?? Jake and I each got an apple, Jessica got a humongo brownie, and I got Jonny some Toffee. For lunch we headed to Gruene, Texas.

This is the Gristmill Restaurant......One of the coolest restaurants I've ever been to!! The whole restaurant is an old cotton gin...and it is very open and airy!! We came on the BEST day because the overcast sky and the breeze were perfect!!

We all had great meals....Jessica and I got the Chicken Fried Steak and Mashed Potatoes, Jake got the Beef Tenderloin Sandwich and Onion Rings, and Jonny got the Catfish with Onion Rings. The food was really good! I had a bite of Jake's steak....WOW!

There was a really cool open-air pavillion there....It looked like an old-west bar....There were pictures of George Strait on the wall. Evidently, this is where he got his start as a singer!!

The community was just beautiful and very old looking. Their slogan is: Gruene Texas--Gently Resisting Change Since 1872!

We had a great day together!! It was such fun getting to know Jessica even better!! We surely cannot wait to get back to Texas and see her again!! Only about 26 more days until we head that way!! Yipppeeeee!

Adam and I loved Gruene! We stayed there at the Gruene Apple Bed and Breakfast. I highly recommend it!

What a neat town. Looks like you all had a great day together. I can't believe the size of Jake's sandwich! I guess that is Texas for you. Love all your pictures. Thanks for sharing.
