Booya's!! July 24, 2008

Our church (St. Patrick Presbyterian in Collierville) has been such a blessing to us through our adoption process!! Several people have completed references for us--my sweet pastor has had to fill out bunches!! This past week the 5th, 6th, and 7th grade youth group made the Davis Baby their mission project!! They had lemonade stands, a dog wash, a car wash, and a bake sale!! On this night, we all met at a new restaurant in Collierville called Booya's, because they were willing to give us 10% of the night's profits for anyone who mentioned us!! It was a PARTY!!

Everyone you see here in this picture is from our church!! I couldn't get my camera to zoom out far enough to get everyone!! I was up against the wall!!! :)

It was such a fun night!! We are so thankful for our sweet church and youth groups!! We are so humbled by all the help we have been given!! (And thanks to Keri and Andrew who treated us to dinner....so we could be part of the fun!!)

3rd Grade Pool Party!! July 23, 2008

We had a really fun 3rd grade reunion on the 23rd!! Almost everyone got to come....and we passed out the memory books from our great year!! The kids were all very excited to see their pictures and stories that they had written!! It was great to catch up with everyone.....and get lots of very wet hugs!!!!! I will always be their little school mama!! :)

Zoysia Project 2008 (July 2008)

Well......I cannot even DESCRIBE for you how many hours and hours have gone into this picutre!! Jonny sprayed all the weeds with Round-Up, had a neighbor plow it all up in June, and then Jonny tilled it all by hand. (This is about 9,500 square feet.) Then he worked lime into it, raked it all by hand, and then planted the Zoysia seed. Lastly he rented a handy-dandy roller tool for $18 to flatten and smooth it all out.
Jonny has set up a pretty cool irrigation system with several sprinkler heads, timers, hoses, etc...It is on a tandem cycle that runs about 3 times a day, I think. (Good thing we don't pay for water!!!) He used it while we were in Texas....and it sure did the trick!! There is grass EVERYWHERE.....we are just not sure much of it is Zoysia yet!! :) But it will be!
He planted about 5,000 square feet of Zoysia seed last year....and it worke beautifully! Maybe next summer we will have a big ole back yard!!!
I cannot tell you how proud I am of Jonathan!! He has worked COUNTLESS hours on this!!
My daddy would be proud!! :) And so would his dad!! :)

Fireworks!! ( July 4)

After dinner and Friday night church, we sat out on the church's lawn to watch Plano's Fireworks!!! It was nice weather...and very beautiful!
The reason I am most excited about these pictures, besides the fact that they contain people I dearly love, is the fact that my new nifty camera needed no flash to capture them!!! Whooo-Hoo! I'm loving this new camera! (Thanks again, Melissa!!!!!!!)

A Mexican Feast!! (July 4)

We always stay with Joann and Scott in Plano on our way to and from San Antonio. This time on our trip to SA, they were still in Kentucky. So, on our way back we decided to stay an extra day and hang out with them. It worked out to our advantage.....They took us to dinner!! (Not to mention the yummy breakfasts we also got on both mornings!!) I can't remember the name of the Mexican restaurant, but they gave us free Mexican dessert, ice cream cones, and a to-go cup of Diet Coke. (Must I tell you that it is now Jonny's FAVORITE!!??) :) Below you can see by Austin's big smile, he loved it too!Ariana needs to work on her dining etiquitte!!Jonny got to snuggle a bit with Ariana......................
Then she bit his nose off!!

But he forgave her pretty quickly!! How could you not??!!
Does she look like her daddy Scott or what?!!

Our Second Day with Jessica (July 3rd)

We picked Jessica up on Thursday morning and headed to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. We had a great feast!! MMMM! Pancakes and Bacon!!! (Some misguided people had EGGS!!) We swung back by Jessica's house after breakfast and decided to take her brother Jake with us on the rest of our outing!! (He looked so lonely there by himself!!) :) After spending about 1 1/2 trying to figure out what to do....and ruling out the IMAX downtown....We headed back to the Outlet Malls in San Marcos. We had fun looking at all kinds of things......but our eyes especially bugged out at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.........Have you ever seen their candied apples!!?? Jake and I each got an apple, Jessica got a humongo brownie, and I got Jonny some Toffee. For lunch we headed to Gruene, Texas.

This is the Gristmill Restaurant......One of the coolest restaurants I've ever been to!! The whole restaurant is an old cotton gin...and it is very open and airy!! We came on the BEST day because the overcast sky and the breeze were perfect!!

We all had great meals....Jessica and I got the Chicken Fried Steak and Mashed Potatoes, Jake got the Beef Tenderloin Sandwich and Onion Rings, and Jonny got the Catfish with Onion Rings. The food was really good! I had a bite of Jake's steak....WOW!

There was a really cool open-air pavillion there....It looked like an old-west bar....There were pictures of George Strait on the wall. Evidently, this is where he got his start as a singer!!

The community was just beautiful and very old looking. Their slogan is: Gruene Texas--Gently Resisting Change Since 1872!

We had a great day together!! It was such fun getting to know Jessica even better!! We surely cannot wait to get back to Texas and see her again!! Only about 26 more days until we head that way!! Yipppeeeee!

Our Visit with Jessica (July 3rd)

Cuteness defined!! That is what sweet Jessica is!! How cute is that girl and that little tummy??? She is still in her regular jeans, somehow.......by some blessed miracle of God!! And--I finally got her to smile with her beautiful teeth showing!! Below is a picture of Jessica and her brother, Jake. We picked them both up on Wednesday evening and took them to dinner at Outback and then we did a little window shopping at the Outlet Mall in San Marcos.
We decided to go bowling after we shopped a bit....but I had to go back to the hotel to get some socks!! That is where we took these pictures!! Jake really liked using my new camera...and he took some really great shots for his first phtography shoot!!
Here we are with our sweet Jessica!!
Here she is again looking completely adorable (and it looks like she is doing a little dance!!) while bowling!!
Jake was really proud of this action photo!! We had a ball getting to know him on this trip too!! He and she are both really great kids, and they are lots of fun to be around!!Obviously, I was not too good at this whole bowling thing!! Jonny and Jessica were pretty neck and neck until Jonny's last strike beat Jessica by only 10 points!! I on the other hand didn't do so well.......That is until my last round!! I made a spare and then on my bonus bowl, I got my first strike of the night. (Of course, no one got a picture of that.....None of us were expecting such greatness from me!!)
After our bowling championship, we all went to Dairy Queen to celebrate!!

This was just Wednesday evening.............more pictures to come from our Thursday together!!
