We got to Jessica's early this morning and got to the Lackland Airforce Base in plenty of time for her 8 a.m. appointment. However, it took us longer than we had anticipated to be allowed on base. We had to show proof of insurance, etc (Thanks to Gilbert....Jonny's dad...for having all the papers neatly organized in the glove compartment!!!)
When you go on base, you have to be "sponsored" by someone who has clearance....it ended up that Jessica was too young to give us this sponsorship...so we were SO GLAD her step mom was with us to give us her clearance!!
Jessica and Jenny went on to the appointment while we finished up getting our clearance...and then we got to the hospital about 10 minutes after she did. By the time we got upstairs....5th floor....She had already been seen and was ready to go!!! Efficient!! She said the procedure was not very uncomfortable at all! (That is because you all are praying for her!!!)
Then she did the sweetest thing and asked the doctor (who was VERY kind to us) if we could hear the heartbeat. That was so kind of her to ask...and so special for us to hear! The doctor told us that Jessica is 4 cm dilated and that things should go fairly quickly...but in case they don't, she was looking into scheduling an induction this week...just to go ahead and get it on the schedule. She was going to call Jessica later today and let her know if she was able to get that on the books. We have not heard back from that yet.
We met the hospital social worker who was very nice....and then she gave us a tour of the birthing center. That was very informative and felt very real!!
So, we wait. Jessica went home to sleep and we also went back to our hotel to catch a nap. We will let you know as soon as we can if there are any updates!!
We are so thankful for all of you!! It is so precious to us that you all are so excited and happy for us! You have no IDEA what a blessing your love, support, and excitement are to us. We have never felt alone in this one minute....because of all of you! We feel very far away from home right now, but surrounded with friends!! You are priceless!
