Our Trip to Birmingham---March 20, 2009

I just mentioned to Marty and Joe that we might be coming to Birmingham, and they were so excited!! Marty insisted that we stay with them..which was so fun!! It was just like old times...easy as could be!! We couldn't believe how big Lana Scott (now just LANA!) had gotten...and we were meeting Luke for the first time! He is SUCH a little Joe!!

They were so fun to be with....Luke is so full of energy and ideas...and Lana is so very grown up, mature, and full of a WONDERFUL sense of humor!! We had a ball with them!! And they sure did love on Jack too!!

Awwww...Our old apartment at Spring Aire Court! Five wonderful years of marriage spent right here! We thought the $375/mo rent was SOOO expensive here! :) Then they raised it to $425!!

We went by Beeson Divinity School (on Samford's Campus) and it was just as beautiful as ever!!

We drove by Keri and Andrew's old condo....They had painted it cream! Good times!!
Mmmmmm! We split Jim-n-Nick's BBQ, fries, and fried green tomatoes! So Southern!! (and so fattening!) But we still found room to have pie afterwards! Mmmmm!
Oak Mountain Pres--Where I taught at the Classical School and first heard the gospel presented in such a way that it completely changed my entire way of thinking about God! What a blessing this church/school was to me! (us!)
This is where I completely lost it on the trip!! Driving by Logan's old house was my strongest memory attachment! Just seeing that yard, park, house where we played and played for so many days...(5 years!!)...It was just so sweet to be there and to feel all those feelings. Poor Jonny thought I was having a nervous break-down! But it was a good cry! :)
We then drove by Logan's house in Mtn. Brook....they were away at the beach for Spring Break, but we left them a note! Next time we will see them!!
This is the house we lived in with Ms. Faye the first 6 months we lived in Birmingham. It is weird to think that she doesn't live here anymore. She has moved to an assisted living facility.
Here is Jonathan and Jack with Ms. Faye. It was so sad that she didn't remember us....! She has evidently fallen several times lately, and has had memory problems due to the falls. She had just called us a few months back to tell us she had moved.
She was still the very same Faye, though! She reminded us that she has never colored her hair, still has all her own teeth, and has never needed glasses! :) She kept telling us what a treat it was that we came to see her. When we went to hug her goodbye, she wanted us to come in the cafeteria to do it so "everybody can see me!!" I guess she doesn't get many visitors. I cried and cried after we left her. It is so hard to see someone get old and forget so many things that she loved!
Well, we had a VERY full trip and did so many fun things! We hope to get back to Birmingham soon!! (Surely it won't be another 8 years!!) :)
