August 2011

Jack is THREE!!!!  We celebrated by going to a movie!!  The Pooh movie to be exact. (Which was excruciatingly long and slow.) Jack was sooo excited about going into a theater!!
He was way too mesmerized by the chandeliers to take a second to look at the camera. And yes...that big popcorn and obscene Coke was Daddy's doing!  Actually, we were going to get a small of each, and it was cheaper to get the large combo!  Ridiculous!  But, it was for a good cause!
Jack liked the movie---but he LOVED the seats that folded up, the lights that went up and down the stairs, and the huge "SCREAM."  (screen)  Next time we won't pay to get movie tickets--we'll just let him explore a dark, empty theater!  After the movie, we went to Gibson's doughnuts for a fresh doughnut!!
Thanking God for our really fun day.  (and yes, I got in trouble for taking the picture during the prayer!)  :)

Ten minutes after we got back in the car!!!  So sleepy already!
More birthday fun!!!  The girls came over for dinner and dessert!  Oh! And presents!!

Jack's favorite kind of cake---no cake!  Only ice cream!! Sorry about that picture, Joy.  oops!

Look at all the loot!!  So thankful for sweet family and friends who gives us so much!

Oooh!  Another day at the Sprinkler Park!!  (This one lasted even longer than planned because Aunt Ju Ju locked her keys in the car!!  We had to wait for Jonathan to come from school to unock us!)

Joy didn't love the water as much as Hugh did! :)

Popsicles in the yard with Alex, Sara Kate, and Lizzie!

Happy Birthday to Jessica!!!

Not sure what is happening here.....Oh!  Yes I do!!!  I turned on the VBS music he had not heard since June, and he went NUTS-O!!  Look how serious he is!  And he remembered all the words and motions!!!  Fun!

Wow!  A smile from Joy in the bathtub.  A rare thing these days!!  She is no friend of water.

Almost time for school to start, and we decided to go spend an evening with our favorite Westminster kids!!  They were having a House Retreat nearby, so we dropped in for supper, dancing, and ice cream.  Jack was in HEAVEN....and Joy did pretty well too!  (It was too loud for her, though!)
Center of attention.  She hates it.

Center of Attention.  He thrives on it.
Jack is sure all of these kids are his best friends!!  :)  He sure does love them!!!

This year Sara Kate is being homeschooled in Kindergarten!!  We try to play with her at recess a couple times a week, have her over one day a week, and so far it has been sooo fun!
This day has a very funny story to accompany it!  I had come in, set Joy's carseat carrier down, and turned to make sure the window ledge cushion seat was free of toys before I sat down.  When I did sit down, I sat down hard and then popped right back up SCREAMING in pain!  I did not know what was happening to me----I didn't know if I was being stung or if I had been poked, but the pain was lingering!!!  I reached back behind me to feel something sharp sticking out of my bottom through my jean capri pants.  I could not move it!  I had to get Keri to yank it out.....!!!  It was a toothpick!!  It had been accidentally stuck down into the cushion (which was exactly the height of the toothpick), and it had impaled me!  It was stuck in over half-way!!  OUCH!!!!!  It became hilarious after a minute or two!  I have never been cabobbed before!!  :)
Recess is the best part of homeschooling, or at least that is our opinion!!!

Their finished craft project for Runaway Bunny!

Homeschooling also means field trips!  Like, to McDonald's!!  Here is Hugh having a jolly time----one leg up and all relaxed!!  :)

Oh, and here are Hugh and Joy having a playdate at Joy's house!! Fun, Fun!!
This was in the afternoon.....can't play outside then!  It is tooooooo hot!! It was sooooo hot this summer!!!  So, we wear onesies and play on the nice, cool hardwood floors!!

And rest....and relax!

Okay, now this picture is meant to snap me back into reality if I ever come to this blogsite reminiscing about how wonderful these days were.  This is a reality check.  These are Rubbermaid boxes full of clothes that need to be tried on kids, washed, ironed, hung up, hems let out, buttons repaired, owner-labeled, stains soaked.....and there are dressers and closets of clothes around the corner that need my attention too! They need to be washed, sorted, labeled, returned if borrowed, stored in a properly labeled container.  Whew!  I DON'T like these days!!!  No matter what my brain tries to tell me later.  It is not true!!  Don't wish for this particular day back.
Choose more wisely than THIS, please!!!

Awww..but look at her sweet face!!!  (Stay strong...don't choose this day!!!)

Love this picture of them looking at each other!  Jack is always trying to cover Joy up with blankets and covers. She usually hates it.  On this day, she is being obliging!  (Maybe choose this day.)

Jack trying to be serious while I take his picture.
It didn't last long!  :)

Seriously, this has been a really, really hot summer!  :)
This was only 30 minutes after the above picture!!
(Don't choose this day either---too hot!!)
